The Jeanne Family

  • Well established noble family in Ul'dah, dating back through various generations.

  • Dwindled in both influence and esteem, under the governance of Lord Aldred Jeanne.

  • Now under the stewardship of the sole remaining member; Lord Talan Jeanne de Cantrelle, and regaining some amount of esteem and prominence.

  • Historical records suggest past ties to the Black family; an influential family heavily involved with judicial matters. Although if inquired of now, both families would likely deny it.

  • More recent ties seem to be predominantly to the Chant and Medvyed families.

An official family portrait, dated four years before the Calamity.

Lord Aldred Jeanne

  • Considered a wastrel by his family, a rather pervasive reputation among the Ul'dahn elite.

  • Was well known for frequenting Ul'dah's Coliseum and various casinos, and making rather large bets.

  • Reported dead around the time of the calamity; due to bandit attack whilst on a trading venture. This occurred shortly after the sale of the family estate.

Lady Ricola Jeanne, née de Cantrelle

  • Quite well known for planning--and attending--various rather lavish parties, with very freely flowing alcohol, and various 'bawdy' entertainments. Very few of which her husband was in attendance for.

  • A scion of House Cantrelle of Ishgard, though her known lack of magical ability might suggest otherwise.

  • Reported dead around the time of the calamity; due to bandit attack whilst on a trading venture. This occurred shortly after the sale of the family estate.

Xiphias Auri

“I've been told he's a black market aficionado with a good heart and a noble bloodline. I half expect a man like to ride in on a unicorn, throwing pots of pixie gold to starving children. He's hiding something, but hell if I know what.”
~ Atriphira Karix

“Bandit’s killed his family? That’s just a story. Someone put Jeanne in power to get it out of his incompetent father’s hands.”

“Lord Jeanne doesn’t kiss up to those damn sultana-wannabes. He’s in the business of helping us little folk, and there’s no better man for the job!”

“I hear that Lord Talan’s father once bet his son in a game of chance! No wonder the boy has no good memories.”

“War profiteer, spymaster, drug dealer, Lord Jeanne probably has his hands in every dark trade short of slavery! And even then, there have been some reports of people going missing…”

“I was at a gala once and watched a servant spill wine on his coat. The manor crumbled to ash before the end of the moon, with all of the family members gone without a trace.”

“Have you ever seen Talan and a voidsent in the same room?
I don’t want to imply anything, but something doesn’t add up.”

“I heard one time he bought a bottle of wine for nearly half a million gil, just to watch a man beg for it.”

"How do you think he's made his millions, eh? Weapons smuggling out of Garlemald, that's how! Why, we might as well just open the gates and let the Imperials march in!"

"I hear a brass blade pissed him off, then got arrested. Not saying that Talan was involved, but his enemies seem to all end up arrested or worse."

“Not for nothin' but I hear Goldie has a closer relationship to tha' Elezen tha' never seems to leave his sight. She almost looks at'em like a disappointed mother.”

"I heard he has a giant pile of gil he sleeps in like that one Romance Novel. It’s supposedly based on his bedroom!"

"I hear that if you anger Lord Jeanne, his glare can freeze you, body and soul."

"Have you seen how many different dates he has? That boy is just like his mother. And aint a single one of them that's a hyur!"

"By Thal's Balls! Did you see Lord Jeanne's eyes? Almost makes you think he’s trying to be like those lizard folk he hangs around with. Do you think he’s hiding a tail too?"

“Lord Talan? He’s practically a paragon! By which I mean to say he seems far too perfect and has far too many fingers in far too many pies. Do you think he’s hiring?”

“Whatever you’ve heard is frankly idiotic. The man killed his father to take control over family affairs. Good choice, honestly, if what I’ve heard about his father is true.”

"I heard that Lord Jeanne becomes so involved with his work that he often forgoes food and rest during his long hours at the office."

"Lord Talan has been wheelin an dealin since he was a mere boy of twelve. He never got to be a normal kid."

"I have it on good authority that Lord Talan is insecure about his friendships, fearing that those close to him are only around for his wealth and status, and might disappear when he really needs them."
